Andrew woke up in haze from a dream. He was still half asleep when he heard some one yell incoming. He came to just as an explosion went off close to him.
What the in the name of the mother land was that?
He yelled as he rolled onto his knees. It was so loud that his ears were ringing and he could not hear very well. Another soldier came up and helped him to his feet. The soldier yelled something at him that he could not make out and pointed down the trench. So the soldier started running down the trench and Andrew followed after him. Another explosion blasted near by knocking Andrew to his knees, he quickly got back up and continued to run down the trench. He came to a dug out where the other soldier was waiting.

Shin held the sword's hilt with his right hand, the single-edged blade resting in a small divot in the blood-soaked earth from its weight, standing still for the moment to catch his breath as the conflict in front of him raged on. The body of his fallen opponent laid strewn out before him with a massive slash wound to the neck. The invaders were unknowns, an army that had appeared like rolling fog on a moor, a surprise attack that had left the army of the Middle Ground virtually no chance to prepare. That being said, the wave of bodies was being driven back whence they came by the relentless, dogged persistence of those they attacked.
Shin was one of them. An orange fox, Sir Kerron, one of the knights of the Middle Ground, at first appeared to be dressed for anything but combat, with a tan baseball cap resting backwards on his head over a pair of glasses for his eyes. The voice, drifting up through the canopy of tree branches, woke me from my light sleep. It was a human voice; or rather it had been a human voice once upon a time. Now it was grey and cold and flat.
